The Story Of Renaissance
Learn about what it took to create Shippensburg's premier destination for creating memories.

Our Founder
Jonathan Bohannon is the visionary behind Renaissance Events Complex and JNB Capital LLC, whose passion for revitalization and community has transformed historic spaces into thriving centers of fellowship and celebration. With a background in real estate development and business leadership, Jonathan brings a unique blend of practicality and artistry to every project, always striving to preserve the character of a property while unlocking its modern potential.
Rooted in faith, family, and a deep love for Shippensburg, Jonathan sees Renaissance not merely as a venue, but as a mission — to foster connection, uplift local culture, and create experiences marked by excellence and hospitality. His ongoing work across the Renaissance campus, including future additions like the courtyard replicating Venice, Italy, for live music and gatherings, and the Bavarian Village for vendors and food stands, reflecting his belief that great spaces have the power to bring people together and inspire renewal.

The City Of Shippensburg
Shippensburg was founded as a western colonial outpost in July 1730, making it the second-oldest community west of the Susquehanna River. Built around a natural spring, it later became the site of a fort during the French and Indian War and, in 1871, home to a teachers’ institute... now known as Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania since July 1, 1983.
Throughout its long history, Shippensburg has welcomed industry and innovation. The Beistle Company, Volvo, and SKF Ball Bearing Company each played key roles in the town’s development. SKF arrived in 1948 and, in 1974, constructed a two-story brick building in front of its factory on West King Street to house office staff. When the company relocated in 1997, the property was purchased by E&M Properties, Inc. and later leased to Agway, which merged with Cargill.

The Start Of Renaissance
Today, the property is owned by JNB Capital LLC, and the bottom floor of that same historic building has been beautifully reimagined.
What was once a hub of industry has been transformed into a place of warmth, celebration, and community: The Renaissance Events Facility.
The vision for Renaissance began after the sale of a local events venue, when Mayor Coy approached JNB Capital with the idea of creating a new gathering place for the community.
Renovations began in November 2020 and were completed exactly two years later.

Where We Are Today
What started as a simple concept evolved into something extraordinary... a banquet hall, a full commercial kitchen, coffee shop full of organically sourced ingredients, and a smoking lounge — the only one of its kind in Shippensburg.
Today, Renaissance stands as a symbol of renewal, carrying forward the town’s proud legacy of craftsmanship, fellowship, and celebration.
